Our Start

Mi Amore was founded in 2014 by Suzanne and Jeff Carson, two military veterans driven by a shared commitment to service and community. What began as a small food recovery effort has grown into a mission-driven organization dedicated to nourishing families and strengthening connections across the community. Today, Mi Amore is guided by an active and dynamic Board and supported by a welcoming network of volunteers, partners, and neighbors—all working together to ensure that every family has access to the food and resources they need to thrive

Our Mission

Mi Amore is dedicated to supporting families facing food insecurity through food recovery and assistance. We rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and deliver it directly to households in need. Our programs ensure that nutritious groceries reach struggling families in Winthrop—while also responding to emerging needs with care, dignity, and compassion

Our Vision

Rooted in food recovery and assistance, Mi Amore envisions a community where every family has reliable access to nutritious food and the opportunity to thrive. We believe that food is more than sustenance—it’s a foundation for dignity, connection, and stability. By building lasting relationships, we aim to go beyond food assistance, connecting families to education, housing, transportation, and opportunities where everyone feels valued, supported, and included

We Need Your Help. Please Donate.

Every donation helps Winthrop families gain consistent access to food and connections to the resources they need to build stability and hope
